and so it begins...

St. Brigid

Here are the first 24 rows of pure fun and delight. I've been coveting Vicki's for so long that I could hardly stand it any more. Since Webs had a Cascade 220 sale and I got Aran Knitting by Alice Starmore from the library, I couldn't not go for it.

Ooh, that's beautiful. I'm in a bit of a lace mood these days, but you may change my mind with this. Never done any Alice Starmore, before. Is she easy to follow?

I saw that sale but restrained myself (so far). I love the color you chose, and the start of the sweater looks wonderful!

Ooh, cable-y goodness! I've got a cable-intensive pattern (not Starmore though) waiting in the wings.

I love looking at Starmores in progress. I would love to do one but worry about the fit at the armholes -- I tend to prefer set in sleeves or modified drop shoulders. How much wider than my actual measurements should a sweater like that be?

I've always loved St. Bridgid and Starmore's are such a joy to knit -- rythmic patterning and well written directions. What more could you want. It looks fabulous. Have fun; I can't wait to see it finished.
